WeWard SAS in Paris is seeking a Apprenticeship / Junior backend engineer to join the Monetization squad. You will contribute to building reliable backend APIs using Python (Flask) and PostgreSQL, under mentorship from senior engineers.
This apprenticeship role offers 2 days of remote work per week, an office in central Paris, and a dev budget to support learning. You will help scale a large-scale product used by millions of users.

Context of the search:
WeWard is entering an exciting new phase of growth, evolving far beyond a simple step counter with several ambitious initiatives on the horizon. You’ll be joining the Monetization squad, where you’ll play a key role in building our game offerwall provider mediation engine.
You will report to Ivan, our Engineering Manager on the Monetization squad.
Contribute to developing reliable, maintainable backend code (APIs, scripts, processing), pairing with senior engineers
Take part in A/B tests to measure the impact of shipped features
Contribute to end-to-end projects, with support on scoping and production release
Build skills in code optimization and identifying bottlenecks
Tech stack:
Mainly Python (Flask) and Postgres — the drive to learn how to design scalable architecture matters more than prior mastery of a specific language.
Genuine technical curiosity and eagerness to learn on a large-scale product
Growing autonomy, with rigor in the code you produce
Ability to ask questions, challenge ideas, and propose new ones (Test & Learn mindset)
Good interpersonal skills to collaborate with PMs and other engineers in the squad
Currently enrolled in a relevant program (engineering school, computer science, or equivalent) on an apprenticeship track
Accelerated learning on a large-scale consumer product (30M+ users) — rare for an apprenticeship
