Job summary

Qonto is offering a Backend Engineer Intern role where you will build and ship real financial features in Go and Ruby, with guidance from a senior engineer. You’ll work in a squad with full ownership of its product scope and learn on real production code powered by AI tools.

This end-of-studies internship welcomes strong candidates and provides a senior mentor, direct manager access, and a supportive, inclusive environment focused on growth and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Ship real features: card authorization, transfers, onboarding or our payment gateway.

• Read, write and review production Go and Ruby code, using AI tools to learn and build faster.

Join us as a Backend Engineer Intern and help build the financial features our customers use every day. You'll work in a squad with full ownership of its product scope, learning on real production code with senior engineers. This is an end-of-studies internship, though strong candidates at any level are welcome.

What you'll do

• Ship real features: You'll build and release features such as card authorization, transfers, onboarding or our payment gateway.
• Join the team from day one: You'll take part in the dailies and the team's regular processes like any other engineer.
• Learn from a dedicated mentor: A senior backend engineer will coach you through weekly one-on-ones and continuous feedback.
• Read, write and review production code: You'll work in Go and Ruby, using AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot…) to learn and build faster.
• Shape what you build: You'll join product discussions with Tech, Product and Design and help influence the direction of your features.

• Curiosity: You're eager to learn and comfortable navigating complexity.
• Openness to feedback: You take feedback well and use it to grow quickly.
• Coding basics: You know the basics of coding in any language and of SQL.
• AI-native workflow: You already use AI to build, debug and learn faster.
• English: You're comfortable working in English.
