Alta Ares in France is seeking a MAVLink & Autopilot Engineer to design, integrate, and harden the autopilot and communication stack for ISR and C-UAS platforms across fixed-wing and multi-rotor systems. You will own MAVLink integration, ArduPlane/ArduCopter customization, and field testing from bench to flight line, writing code in the morning and validating on live airframes in the afternoon.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years of experience in embedded systems, UAS development, or robotics.
• Hands-on experience with ArduPlane and ArduCopter on real airframes.
• Deep MAVLink protocol: message design, dialect customization, routing.
• Experience with fixed-wing and multi-rotor platforms is required.
• Defense/dual-use or operational UAS environment experience is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Design, implement, and maintain MAVLink-based communication pipelines.
• Own integration and customization of ArduPlane/ArduCopter firmware.
• Develop and tune custom flight modes, mission logic, and failsafe behaviours.
• Integrate external sensors and payloads into ArduPilot ecosystem.
• Lead field testing and validation through HIL/SIL and live flights.
