Harmattan AI seeks a Flight Guidance & Motion Planning Engineer to own motion planning, trajectory generation, and guidance laws. You will work with inputs from the estimator and perception pipeline, weigh classical vs learning-based methods, and hand references to the control loop across high-speed autonomous flight.

Based in Lausanne, Paris, or Zurich, you will handle input latency, rate, dropout, and ensure robust performance through simulation, SITL, and HITL testing while mentoring junior

Qualifications

• Strong academic record in aerospace, robotics, GNC or related STEM field.
• Experience with onboard motion planning, trajectory generation, and guidance laws on flying platforms.
• Hands-on work closing a control loop on perception output, handling latency/dropout.
• Familiarity with learning-based planning or guidance and simulation-based training.

Responsabilités

• Motion Planning: plan dynamically feasible paths onboard, including obstacle avoidance and replanning.
• Trajectory Generation: convert paths into references within airframe and actuator limits.
• Guidance Laws: design laws to steer the aircraft along references.
• Interfaces & Perception Coupling: manage ego-state inputs from Navigation and perception pipeline, including latency and dropout.
• Mode & Failsafe Logic: implement behavior across cruise, loiter, and approach, including lost-link scenarios.
• Flight Test & Diagnosis: verify via simulation, SITL/HITL, Monte Carlo campaigns, iterate from logs.
• Mentorship: support the team by mentoring junior engineers as needed.
