A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations.

  • Works from visual aids, method layouts, diagrams, schematics, process flow sheets and written or verbal assembly instructions.

  • Sets initial layouts, and uses a variety of tools to prepare product(s).

  • Makes continuity checks on work in process and completed.

  • May conduct quality inspections on processing line in accordance with quality specifications.

  • May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions.

PRODUCTION SUPPORT CAREER STREAM:

Provides support in manufacturing operations and/or distribution centers including assembly, machinery, processing, packaging, and/or distribution of company products. May set up and operate automatic or semiautomatic machines and related equipment in a continuous production/processing operation. Reports any malfunctions or abnormalities in machines, with higher levels recommending and/or making adjustments to methods and processes. May be involved in shipping, receiving, inventory control, or storage of products in distribution centers.

Works under moderate supervision; with general supervision and instructions given for routine work and detailed instructions for new activities.

Knows operating equipment and established operational procedures.

Works on clerical assignments in distribution center that may require application of prior experience.

Organizational Impact: Performs intermediate activities requiring judgment and decision-making in manufacturing/production operations or distribution center.

Work consists of tasks that are typically routine.

Innovation and Complexity: Problems faced are routine and typically exist in current work processes and systems.

May be required to highlight areas of concerns / problems in own job area.

Communication and Influence: Communicates typically with internal contacts within and outside of immediate team.

Obtains and provides information requiring some explanation or interpretation.

Leadership and Talent Management: May provide guidance and assistance to new or entry level employees.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires basic knowledge of manufacturing or supply chain operational procedures, systems, and tools gained through experience and/or relevant training, education, or certifications.

Requires 1+ years of related experience, which may include a combination of practical experience and applicable training, education, or certification.

No minimum education requirement.
