Qualifications

  • Diplôme de master dans un domaine connexe ou expérience équivalente.
  • Compétences solides en programmation C++.
  • Excellentes capacités de communication écrite et verbale.
  • Passion pour la recherche et l'innovation, notamment en matière de haptique ou de réalité étendue.

Responsabilités

  • Étudier les formats de représentation de signaux.
  • Comparer les normes existantes à l'aide de métriques objectives.
  • Développer des prototypes et effectuer des évaluations utilisateur.

Job Summary

Alternance: Sensing signal encoding. InterDigital is looking for a student researcher to join its Interactive Media team to research and develop technologies related to sensing signal encoding in a standardization context. The role focuses on haptics and sensor data encoding, including studying state‑of‑the‑art formats, proposing new representation methods, and developing proof‑of‑concept prototypes.

Responsibilities
  • Study state of the art sensing signal representation formats and compression.
  • Study existing sensing standards.
  • Compare these standards using different objective metrics.
  • Propose improved methods to encode and decode sensing signals.
  • Develop proof‑of‑concept prototypes to showcase proposed solutions.
  • Conduct user evaluations to ensure the viability of the proposed methods.
  • Research and develop technologies related to sensing signal encoding (inc. haptics and robotics).
  • Provide corresponding Proof‑of‑concept software implementation and demos.
  • Contribute to the team publication of research results in various forms, including patent applications, standards contributions, implementation, conference and journal publications, technical white papers.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field; internship, summer job, or school project experience is accepted.
  • Proficient in C++ programming.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong team player; comfortable in English.
  • Experience in signal processing, computer graphics, VR/AR/XR, computer vision, electronics, or robotics.
  • Passion for research and innovation, especially in haptics or extended reality.
  • Bonus: experience in Unity/C#, Computer Graphics, or Virtual Reality.
  • Comfortable with complex algorithm development.
Location

Rennes, France (some remote work possible).
