Mistral.ai seeks an AI Scientist to push the boundaries of AI by developing and scaling frontier models. You will collaborate with a global team to design, build, and deploy models for reasoning, code, and multimodal applications, shaping enterprise and daily usage of AI systems.

You will work with PyTorch/JAX, distributed systems, and a strong MLOps stack, contributing to open-source frontier models. The role offers a dynamic, collaborative environment across Europe, North America, and beyond.

Qualifications

• Publications or open-source contributions in relevant scientific domains.
• Hands-on experience with PyTorch or JAX, or Ray/Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in Python, Rust, Go, or Java.
• Experience training large transformer models in distributed settings.
• Knowledge of the full MLOps stack: fine-tuning, evaluation, and deployment.

Responsabilités

• Research and develop novel methods to advance LLM capabilities.
• Design and implement tooling for training, evaluating, and analysing AI models at scale.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and product teams to ship AI systems with tangible impact.
• Explore and innovate across use cases such as reasoning, code generation, and agent-based systems.
• Work with multimodal data, including text, image, and speech, to expand model capabilities.
• Optimise distributed systems to improve the efficiency and scalability of model training.
• Contribute to the open-source community by releasing frontier models for public use.
