CMA CGM Group in Marseille seeks an Intercompany Banking and Financing Accountant to manage recording and reconciliation of intercompany cash management transactions. You will ensure proper documentation and compliance within a multi-system environment.

Collaborating with Tax, Treasury, Financial Control, and Consolidation, you will drive process documentation and continuous improvement of accounting tools and controls.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Accounting.
  • 5+ years of experience in General Accounting within an international group.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and a keen interest in information systems.
  • Professional level of English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Autonomous, curious, and proactive, with a strong sense of initiative.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize information, work on complex issues, think critically, and adapt to changing environments.
  • Experience with SAP would be considered an advantage.

YOUR ROLE:

For the Group’s parent company and principal shipowner, the Intercompany Banking and Financing Accounting Department is responsible for accounting operations related to the financing arrangements of subsidiaries and the Group’s cash pooling activities.

Working closely with our shared service centers, particularly in India, the Intercompany Banking and Financing General Accountant is responsible for analyzing and understanding financial transactions between the Group’s various entities, leveraging a strong understanding of information systems as well as close collaboration with other departments and subsidiaries.

In a complex international and multi-system environment, the successful candidate will also be expected to proactively contribute to the implementation of tools and processes aimed at structuring accounting activities, enhancing operational efficiency, and strengthening internal controls.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

Within the Accounting Department, theIntercompany Banking and Financing Accountant is responsible for recording accounting transactions related to cash management agreements and intercompany current accounts. The role ensures that account balances within this scope are properly reconciled, justified, and documented, while meeting the Group’s closing timetable requirements. The position also plays a key role in accounting compliance activities.

As part of the team, the main responsibilities include:

  • Recording invoices related to the netting process
  • Managing interest associated with cash management agreements, including calculation reviews, accruals, and invoicing
  • Analyzing and substantiating account balances within the assigned scope of responsibility
  • Reconciling intercompany balances across the relevant entities and perimeter
  • Contributing to accounting compliance and internal control activities related to the scope of responsibility.

The Intercompany Banking and Financing Accountant works closely with the other departments within the Accounting Division, as well as with all teams across the Finance Department, including Tax, Treasury, Financial Control, and Consolidation. The role also involves regular interaction with the accounting teams of the Group’s subsidiaries and shared service centers.

To strengthen the control environment,process documentation and continuous improvement are key expectations of the role, including:

  • Formalizing accounting processes
  • Documenting accounting entries and accounting treatment flows
  • Developing and enhancing accounting controls

In this fast-evolving environment, the Intercompany Banking and Financing Accountant will be expected to identify, propose, and implement improvements to both tools and processes.

In this capacity, the role will also involve close collaboration with Project and IT teams to support the optimization and automation of accounting and financial processes.

  • Master’s degree (Master 2) in Accounting
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in General Accounting within an international group
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and a keen interest in information systems
  • Professional level of English, both written and spoken
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Autonomous, curious, and proactive, with a strong sense of initiative
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize information, work on complex issues, think critically, and adapt to changing environments
  • Experience with SAP would be considered an advantage.
