The International Potato Center (CIP) is looking for a dynamic Accounting Assistant with excellent organizational skills to provide support to the Finance department. This position will be based in Lima, Peru.

About CIP: CIP is part of the CGIAR global research partnership committed to transforming food, land, and water systems in a climate crisis. CIP’s mission is to develop and share science-based innovations in potato, sweet potato, and other root and tuber crops. About the role: The Accounting Assistant is responsible for providing financial support in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial operations. The person selected will be based in HQ-Lima, Peru and will report directly to the Senior Corporate Controller.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and prepare reports of balance sheet accounts (accounts payable, employee travel advances, supplier advances, partner advances, accruals, etc.)
• Support in the VAT refund process (MMRR, SUNAT, Legal, others)
• Focal point between the CIP accounting department and the accounting outsourcing company
• Support the administration of the process accounts payable to ensure correct accounting.
• Records of Fixed Asset acquisitions, dispositions, and depreciation.
• Preparation and registration of receivable invoices.
• Maintenance of master file of Supplier and Customer.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• At least 2 years of professional experience in accounting, preferably in a non-profit environment.
• Knowledge and experience using accounting software packages (ERP preferable).
• Updated tax knowledge
• Knowledge of IGV reimbursement procedures - Ministry of foreign affairs is a plus
• Experience and knowledge of Not-for-profit accounting, as well as being up to date with accounting techniques and trends.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially in Excel.
• Intermediate English level, written and oral.
