ATMOS Space Cargo is seeking an Accountant / Buchhalter (m/f/d) to join our growing Finance team in a fast-paced aerospace startup environment. You will be responsible for day-to-day accounting operations and support monthly and annual closing activities.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure accurate, compliant, and transparent financial processes. Fluent German (C1) and strong Excel skills, DATEV experience, and a hands-on mindset in a small team are

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or comparable qualification.
• Commercial training with a focus on accounting welcome (e.g. Finanzbuchhalter).
• Hands-on mindset and willingness to take ownership in a small team.
• Several years of accounting experience, ideally in a startup/tech env.
• Solid knowledge of German GAAP (HGB); IFRS/group reporting exposure a plus.
• Proficient with DATEV and Excel.
• Fluent German (C1) and good English; French a plus.
• Interest in aerospace or high-tech engineering environments and on-site presence 2–3 days/week.

Responsabilités

• Handle day-to-day accounting activities, incl. booking invoices.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Perform bank postings and account reconciliations.
• Support month-, quarter-, and year-end closing activities.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet and P&L figures.
• Process travel expenses and reimbursements.
• Support VAT filings and tax compliance with external advisors.
• Prepare documentation for audits and external accountants.
• Work with DATEV and ensure accurate data maintenance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes and controls.
• Collaborate with Finance, HR, and Operations teams.

In this role, you will be responsible for day-to-day accounting operations and support monthly and annual closing activities. Key responsibilities

• You will handle day-to-day accounting activities, including booking of incoming and outgoing invoices
• You will manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
• You will perform bank postings and account reconciliations
• You will support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities
• You will prepare and maintain balance sheet and P&L accounts
• You will process employee travel expenses and reimbursements
• You will support VAT filings and ensure tax compliance in cooperation with external advisors
• You will prepare documentation for audits and external accountants
• You will work with DATEV and support accurate data maintenance in the system
• You will support continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls
• You will collaborate closely with Finance, HR, and Operations teams

Requirements

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a comparable qualification
• Completed commercial training with a focus on accounting (e.g. Finanzbuchhalter, Steuerfachangestellte) is also welcome
• Hands-on mindset and willingness to take ownership in a small team
• Several years of practical experience in accounting, ideally in a startup, scale-up, or technology-driven environment
• Solid knowledge of German accounting standards (HGB); exporsure to IFRS or group reporting structures is a plus
• Confident working with accounting software, ideally DATEV, and strong Excel skills
• Structured, reliable, and detail-oriented working style
• Fluent German (C1) and good working proficiency in English, French language skills are a plus
• Interest in aerospace, space, or high-tech engineering environments
• This role requires regular onsite (min. 2-3 days/weeks) presence at our location in Lichtenau; Germany or Illkirch-Graffenstaden, France.
