About The Role
FTI Consulting is the leading global expert firm for organizations facing crisis and transformation. We work with many of the world's top multinational corporations, law firms, banks and private equity firms on their most important issues to deliver impact that makes a difference. From resolving disputes, navigating crises, managing risk and optimizing performance, our teams respond rapidly to dynamic and complex situations. We recruit an Intern for its energy team based in Paris to support its rapid growth. The intern will be based at FTI Consulting's central Paris office, with sporadic international travels if permitted. The intern will work within focused teams, supervised by senior professionals who will help frame analyses and transfer their expertise to help the Intern develop his/her industry understanding and analytical skills.
What you will gain includes training and coaching on structured thinking, synthesizing complex information, creating financial models, and developing industry-specific expertise in the infrastructure and energy sectors.
What You’ll Do
The Intern will join a team of professionals with deep expertise and experience in the infrastructure and energy sectors, addressing complex economic, financial and strategic issues across five dimensions of expertise:

- Advising a group of 10 international lenders on the debt restructuring of a large independent power producer (IPP) in West Africa
- Advising a transmission system operator (TSO) on designing a comprehensive and innovative financial strategy to finance interconnectors connecting offshore wind farms across the North Sea.
- Strategy – Advises energy companies and governments on decarbonisation of energy systems. Examples:
- Advising a Western European infrastructure company on possible business models and required financial public support for the production of renewable gas (hydrogen or methane)
- Advising an African government on its 10-year gas import strategy
- Dispute – Acts as an independent economic expert in complex disputes, advising tribunals on energy markets issues and damages quantification. Examples:
- Assessing the lost profits of a terminated hydropower plant project in Southern Europe
- Assessing the economic implications of the determination of a disputed maritime border focusing on offshore oil and gas production
- Regulation – Advises energy ministries, regulators and regulated companies on regulatory regimes governing electricity, gas, carbon, fuels and related markets. Examples:
- Designing a new incentive-based regulatory regime for the electricity sector in a developing country
- Assessing the quantitative impact of proposed EU carbon market reforms
- Transaction – Advises investors and contracting parties on energy asset transactions and long-term energy contracts. Examples:
- Conducting commercial due diligence on a French smart meter company
- Negotiating a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement for a new 400 MW power plant
The internship is based in Paris and includes supervision by senior professionals who will help frame analyses and transfer expertise to develop industry understanding and analytical skills.
