Job summary

Nordhealth is seeking an AI UX Design Intern to help shape intuitive, AI-powered user experiences. You’ll design, prototype, and test interactions for conversational interfaces and data-heavy AI tools, working closely with AI engineers, product managers, and researchers.

This is a 3-month internship, with a possibility to convert to full-time. You should have a strong portfolio in HCI/UX, proficiency with Figma or Sketch, and a passion for human-AI interaction.

Qualifications

• Portfolio demonstrating user-centered design thinking, wireframing and prototyping.
• Strong understanding of UX principles and usability testing.
• Interest in AI, ML, and human-AI interaction.

Responsibilities

• Translate complex AI capabilities into intuitive user journeys and interactions.
• Create wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes for AI-driven features (chatbots, data-heavy interfaces).
• Design and conduct usability testing sessions for AI prototypes to gather feedback.
• Analyze feedback to identify pain points and improve human-AI interaction.
• Collaborate with AI engineers, product managers, and researchers to iterate designs.

We are seeking an AI UX Design Intern with a strong passion for designing intuitive and user-centric, AI-powered experiences. You will work on designing, prototyping, and testing the user interactions for our AI tools, focusing on conversational interfaces, intuitive data visualization, and AI-assisted decision support. This is a hands‑on role where you will help shape how AI can be made intuitive, accessible, and trustworthy for our users, helping them leverage complex technology with confidence.

We offer a 3-month internship contract, with the possibility of being converted to a full-time employment.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Translate complex AI capabilities and user needs into simple, elegant, and accessible user journeys, user flows, and interaction designs.
• Create wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity interactive prototypes for AI-driven features, including conversational UIs (chatbots) and data-heavy interfaces.
• Design and conduct usability testing sessions specifically for AI-powered prototypes to gather qualitative and quantitative user feedback.
• Analyze user feedback and testing data to identify pain points, usability issues, and areas of friction or mistrust in the human-AI interaction.
• Collaborate closely with AI Engineers, Product Managers, and Researchers to iterate on designs and ensure user needs are balanced with technical feasibility.
• Document and present design concepts, user research findings, and design recommendations to internal teams.

  • Successfully translating complex AI functionalities (like uncertainty or multiple outputs) into clear, intuitive, and engaging design solutions.
  • Effective collaboration with technical (AI/engineering) and non-technical (product) teams to advocate for the user.
  • Rapidly iterating on prototypes based on user feedback and usability testing insights.
• Key Challenges:
  • Designing for "non-deterministic" systems; creating graceful user experiences for AI errors, low-confidence responses, and ambiguity.
  • Building and maintaining user trust in AI-driven recommendations and automated actions.
  • Clearly communicating the AI's capabilities and limitations to the user through the interface, managing user expectations.

Success Factors & Key Challenges:

• Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), UX Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Cognitive Science, or a related field.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design thinking, wireframing, and prototyping (please include a link with your application).
• Proficiency in modern design and prototyping tools (e.g. Figma, Sketch)
• Knowledge of user-centered design principles, usability testing methods, and user research.
• A strong, demonstrable interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and human-AI interaction.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate and defend design decisions.
