ABB Oy, Smart Power in Vaasa, is seeking a Trade Compliance Officer to lead trade compliance activities at the manufacturing unit. You will guide on export controls, sanctions, and customs regulations, collaborating with business teams, and external authorities to ensure compliance.

The role requires English and Finnish fluency, strong communication, and experience with SAP/SAP GTS. Expect a hybrid work model and a focus on risk monitoring and policy maintenance within ABB’s global framework.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead trade compliance activities at the manufacturing unit and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external authorities.
• Provide guidance on compliance matters and support product classification activities.
• Identify risks, monitor regulatory changes, and communicate updates to Country Trade Compliance Officers.
• Maintenance of trade compliance policies, procedures, and instructions at manufacturing unit level.

This position reports to:

Customer Support Manager

Your Role And Responsibilities

We are now looking for a Trade Compliance Officer to join our team at ABB Oy, Smart Power in Vaasa. In this role, you will lead trade compliance activities at the manufacturing unit, helping ensure compliance with export control, customs, sanctions, and other international trade requirements. You will work closely with business teams by providing guidance on compliance matters, supporting product classification activities, identifying potential risks, and monitoring regulatory changes. You will also serve as a key link between the business, the trade compliance organization, and external authorities.

Trade compliance responsibilities will account for approximately 80% of the role. The remaining 20% will consist of additional responsibilities supporting business operations, process improvement, and other local activities based on business needs.

• Ensuring local business processes comply with ABB Trade policies and applicable trade regulations
• Providing practical guidance, training, and support on trade compliance matters to local teams and maintaining trade compliance policies, procedures and instructions at manufacturing unit level
• Acting as the main contact for trade compliance topics and collaborating with internal stakeholders and external authorities
• Identifying and communicating potential trade compliance risks to local management and Country Trade Compliance Officers
• Monitoring and communicating changes in customs and export control regulationsSupporting product classification activities, including export control, tariff classification, and origin determination
• Conducting sanctions and restricted party screenings
• Maintaining preferential origin processes and providing Long-Term Supplier Declarations (LTSDs) to customers

Qualifications For The Role

• Strong knowledge of international trade compliance, export control, customs regulations, and sanctions requirements
• Good understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes, risk management and logistics in a global business environment
• BSc. or MSc. level degree from a relevant field, such as Business or Engineering
• Fluent written and spoken English and Finnish are necessary in this role
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and levels of the organization
• Business mind-set, responsiveness, strong sense of ownership, self-driven; strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks and provide practical compliance solutions
• Experience with SAP and SAP GTS is considered an advantage
