We are looking for someone for Pitäjänmäki Primary School who is motivated to perform the duties of a special education assistant.
The goal of your work as a special education assistant is to guide and support the learner in different stages of schooling and the learning process.

We value diabetes expertise, deaf-blindness expertise, and the use of speech-supporting and alternative communication methods.
Assistants have meetings led by the team leader about five times during the school year. In addition to these meetings, assistants participate in staff meetings alternately.
Pitäjänmäki Primary School is a comprehensive school where approximately 480 students in grades 1-9 study. Our school has a focus on movement, dance, and expression. We have 10 special classes and one preparatory education class. Hard-of-hearing and sign language students study at our school.
In addition to teachers and school assistants, we employ a curator, psychologist, team leader, school coach, multilingual guide, and sign language interpreters.
The special education assistant is hired for 34 weekly hours. The position is part-time.
Level salary 2318.51 €, when the working time is 34h/week. In addition, the salary includes possible additions according to KVTES. The level salary may change according to expertise and level of responsibility.
Special education assistants are employed by the City of Helsinki's Education Division. The place of work is determined based on the available school assistant resources at any given time and may change annually. During school holidays, school assistants and special education assistants work in the centralized holiday activities for disabled children. During holidays, the place of work may be another City of Helsinki school. Summer vacation is mainly timed to the closure of the holiday activities.

The eligibility requirement is a practical nurse degree or other suitable at least secondary vocational qualification and medication administration rights. We require registration in Valvira's central register of professionals.
In addition, the position requires good oral and written skills in Finnish.
The person appointed to the position must submit a register extract concerning themselves as intended by the Act on the Checking of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children (504/2002).
