Job summary

Aiven is seeking a Software Engineer to join our cloud operations platform, turning open-source technologies into reliable cloud services. You’ll be part of the team focused on developing the Valkey services and improving their scalability and reliability.

You will write high-quality Python, review PRs, mentor peers, automate repetitive tasks, and help with backlog planning. We offer hybrid work, equity, professional development, and wellbeing support.

Qualifications

• Excellent development skills in Python.
• 3+ years of experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL/MariaDB/SQL Server/OracleDB.
• 1+ years with in-memory databases (Valkey/Redis/Dragonfly/KeyDB).
• Experience with backup solutions and backup strategies.
• Advanced understanding of Linux OS.
• Experience with automated testing.

What You’ll Do

• Write high‑quality, maintainable code and release quality features.
• Participate in technical discussions and perform PR reviews.
• Contribute to technical planning and backlog management.
• Help investigate and resolve customer issues.

• Develop and improve the scalability and reliability of Valkey service.
