Job summary

Saab Finland seeks Software Developers to advance the 9LV Combat System, based in the Saab Technology Center in Tampere. You will join an agile team focusing on adapter and security-management capabilities across our global product portfolio.

You’ll develop, test, and deploy software, collaborate across teams, and contribute to defense-related projects with strict security requirements. Partial remote work and strong work-life balance are offered.

Qualifications

• Must have experience with agile software development and Java programming.
• Fluent communication in Finnish and English.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Linux basics.
• Experience with virtualization and containerization is a plus.

Responsibilities

We are seeking Software Developers to join our mission of creating exceptional performance in the 9LV Combat System. Our team covers the full spectrum of development, from platform solutions to user applications, ensuring that every component of the system operates at its peak.

Your role

As a Software Developer, you will undertake a variety of development tasks related to our global product portfolio. You will be part of an agile development team in Finland, initially focusing on building adapter and security management capabilities.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Developing efficient code based on specifications
• Designing, testing, and building software to meet user needs
• Verifying and deploying software tools and processes
• Troubleshooting, debugging, and upgrading existing software
• Documenting information required for upgrades and maintenance

Your profile

You are a proactive problem-solver who thrives on getting hands‑on to drive product and organisational success. With a collaborative mindset, you are a team player who fosters an open, trusting, and innovative environment. Ideally, you share our enthusiasm for learning new technologies and challenging the status quo.

Required skills/experience:

• Good understanding and experience from agile SW development
• Good programming skills with Java
• You like working both in teams and independently
• Good communication skills in speaking and writing (Finnish and English)
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other equivalent background
• Basic knowledge of Linux

Good-to-have skills/experience:

• Virtualization and containerization techniques and tools
• PKI management or TPM2 knowledge

In this job, some of your tasks have a connection to defence secrecy. Therefore, a drug test and approved security clearance in accordance with the Finnish Security Clearance act 726/2014 is required for the selected applicant.
