Job description

Software | Product Development | Turku, Finland

Create clarity. Coordinate planning. Keep software delivery visible and predictable.

Are you an experienced technical project manager who enjoys coordinating complex development initiatives, bringing structure to multidisciplinary work, and helping international teams deliver successfully? Safegrid is entering its next phase of growth as part of G&W Electric. We are looking for a Senior SW Project Manager to coordinate our continuous software product-development process and maintain clear delivery visibility across parallel initiatives in Finland and the US.

This is a senior coordination and support role. You will work closely with the Director of Engineering & Product, and specialists across backend, data, UI/UX, and related areas. Your technical understanding will help you recognize dependencies, support informed decisions, and keep execution structured and transparent.

Role at a glance

Primary focus: Quarterly planning, continuous product process coordination and delivery visibility

Team interface: Director of Engineering & Product, multidisciplinary SW R&D teams

Ways of working: Agile product development, structured follow-up, clear documentation and continuous improvement

What you will do
  • Support quarterly planning. Coordinate the planning cycle and ensure the required inputs are available. Consolidate Level of Effort (LOE) estimates, resource and competency needs, dependencies, capacity assumptions, timing, and risks into a clear quarter-level view for prioritization and scope decisions.
  • Coordinate the continuous product process. Maintain up-to-date view of items through planning, development, testing, release, and completion. Support the Director of Engineering & Product in refining feature definitions and preparing regular product meetings.
  • Maintain delivery visibility. Keep an integrated view of active initiatives, including progress, timing, blockers, dependencies, risks, workload changes, resource needs, and deviations. Prepare concise status views and management-reporting material.
  • Facilitate focused follow‑up. Determine when initiative catch‑ups are useful and facilitate them to clarify progress, blockers, actions, ownership, and next steps—helping teams stay aligned without taking over technical problem‑solving or creating unnecessary process.
  • Support capacity and resource coordination. Identify resource conflicts, capability gaps, and bottlenecks and support allocation, onboarding, and effective use of internal and external resources.
  • Support change and release coordination. When urgent work or significant deviations arise, coordinate the impact assessment and make implications for scope, schedule, resources, dependencies, risks, and committed work visible. Track features through testing, release, operational handover, and completion.
  • Continuously improve SW R&D processes. Help improve coordination practices without unnecessary bureaucracy.
What you bring
  • Strong project‑management foundation. Typically 8+ years of relevant experience in technical project or program management, or a comparable coordination role in software or technology development, including complex or changing environments.
  • Software‑development fluency. A strong understanding of software‑development processes and enough technical depth to work effectively with technical specialists, recognize dependencies and risks, and support informed decisions without taking over technical ownership.
  • Planning and delivery discipline. Demonstrated capability in planning, scheduling, prioritization, LOE and capacity planning, dependency and risk management, resource planning, progress tracking, and management reporting across multiple parallel initiatives.
  • Multidisciplinary development coordination. Experience coordinating work across backend development, data engineering, data science, UI/UX, system engineering, DevOps/infrastructure, integrations, and related technical areas.
  • International team coordination. Experience working with geographically distributed development teams, preferably across Europe and North America, and creating clarity across time zones and changing priorities.
  • Ownership, collaboration, and clear communication. Excellent facilitation, reporting, and English‑language communication skills. You work independently, listen to different viewpoints, challenge plans constructively, surface risks early, and support teams without relying on direct authority.
  • Relevant education and tools. A minimum of bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent experience and familiarity with modern delivery and planning/reporting tools.
Experience that would help you succeed
  • Experience with software products in energy, electrical grids, IoT, industrial systems, or critical infrastructure; understanding of medium‑ or high‑voltage distribution, grid monitoring, system protection, analysis, or fault response is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud/server architectures, scalable data platforms, APIs and integrations, sensor‑to‑cloud architectures, and data‑intensive or near‑real‑time applications.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity, regulatory requirements, and restrictions related to geographically sensitive data in regulated or mission‑critical environments.
  • Experience coordinating R&D subcontractors, vendors, distributed software‑development teams, or customer‑driven development alongside longer‑term product and platform work.
  • Experience in a growing or transforming product‑development organization and in portfolio‑level planning across related initiatives; Agile/Scrum/SAFe certification is helpful, and PMP is a plus.
Why this role matters

Safegrid develops intelligent grid‑monitoring technology for medium‑ and high‑voltage networks. As our software development grows across technical areas and locations, teams need strong coordination without unnecessary process overhead. You will help create the planning discipline, visibility, and follow‑up that support informed decisions, productive collaboration, and reliable software delivery for a smarter, more resilient grid.
