Job summary

Orion Pharma in Espoo, Finland seeks a Senior Scientist to lead medicinal chemistry strategies focused on bivalent proximity modalities, including PROTACs and RIPTACs. You will design and optimize linkers and bifunctional architectures to advance next generation therapies.

The role emphasizes hands-on synthesis, library design, ADMET/ developability, and cross-functional collaboration. You will work within a dynamic R&D team, with opportunities to contribute to IP strategy and transform concepts

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry or related field.
• Strong background in organic and medicinal chemistry and lead optimization.
• Experience with synthesis planning and modern analytical tools (NMR, HPLC-MS).
• Demonstrated experience in bivalent molecules, PROTACs, or related modalities.
• Knowledge of DMPK/ADME principles for small and bRo5 molecules.
• Proven track record in library design and SAR generation.
• Interest in direct-to-biology approaches.
• Hands-on contribution in compound design and synthesis.
• Experience with computational chemistry, ML-based design tools, and structural biology.

Responsibilities

• Design and synthesize novel bivalent proximity modalities such as PROTACs and RIPTACs, including target binder development and linker optimization.
• Build and expand diverse bRo5 chemical libraries aligned with project needs.
• Execute multi-step organic synthesis, isolate, purify and characterize compounds.
• Advance multi-parameter optimization addressing ADMET and developability with computational tools.
• Contribute to intellectual property strategy with internal IP specialists.
