Job summary

H&MV Engineering is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Finish team, reporting to the Commercial Manager. You will manage cost estimation, budgeting, contract administration, procurement, risk management, and CVR/financial reporting for medium to large-scale EPC projects.

Responsibilities include revenue management, tendering, procurement, and cost control, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining contractual compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or related field.
• Professional membership with RICS or SCSI preferred but not mandatory.
• Minimum 8+ years experience in quantity surveying/cost engineering.
• Experience with construction contracts and project cost control.
• Proficiency with Primavera and CostX is preferred.

About the Role:

H&MV Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Finish team, reporting to the Commercial Manager.

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in managing the commercial aspects of medium to large-scale EPC projects. You will oversee cost estimation, budgeting, contract administration, procurement, risk management, and CVR / financial reporting, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with contractual obligations. Your expertise will support collaboration across project teams, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors, contributing directly to the success and growth of our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Revenue management (Interim payment applications, cashflow, maximizing opportunities, opportunity management, contract variations and modifications and prevention of margin erosion).
• Cost Management (tenders analysis, effect cost control strategies, manage and monitor project budgets and costs).
• Contract Administration & Management (contract review and negotiation, contract administration, including reviewing and approving contract variations, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and manage contract disputes, claims and litigation).
• Tendering & Procurement (oversee the procurement process, including the selection of suppliers and subcontractors, tender preparation, management and evaluation and post-tender negotiations).
• Risk Management (identifying potential risks, develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, reporting).
• Cost Control and Reporting (responsible financial reporting, project cost and expenditure monitoring, reporting, forecasting, support decision-making and maintaining accurate project documentation).
• Project Management Interface ( collaboration and support to all stakeholders to support the delivery of projects on time and within budget).
• Stakeholders & general communication (assist with supplier agreement and sub-contractors’ management, client-liaison, clear transfer of project information, meetings, relationship-building).

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or a related field.
• Professional membership with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors), SCSI or equivalent preferable, but not mandatory.
• Minimum of 8+ years of experience in quantity surveying/cost engineering.
• Working knowledge of construction and engineering contracts.
• Experience with construction software preferable e.g. Primvera, Cost X.
• Team-player with the ability to work independently.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of environmental and sustainability issues related to the energy sector.
