Job summary

Wolt in Helsinki is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to join the Event Streaming team. You’ll own the streaming backbone and help power critical workflows across Wolt, Deliveroo and DoorDash, contributing to long-term architecture decisions and ensuring reliability at scale.

You’ll design, build and operate large-scale streaming infrastructure (Kafka, Event Bus) and collaborate with SRE, Data Platform and other teams across regions.

Qualifications

• Distributed systems experience in production.
• Deep experience with Kafka or similar event streaming systems.
• Proficient in Java/Go/Python for reliable systems.
• Experience operating scalable production infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure automation and observability.
• Solid Linux, networking and JVM fundamentals.
• Strong written and verbal communication across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate large-scale event streaming infrastructure that supports critical production workloads.
• Improve reliability, scalability, observability and automation of Kafka, Event Bus and related streaming components.
• Debug complex distributed systems issues—latency, bottlenecks, capacity constraints—and drive them to resolution.
• Build infrastructure automation and self-healing capabilities to reduce operational toil.
• Contribute to the team’s 24/7 On-call rotation and post-mortem actions.
• Collaborate with SRE, Data Platform and other teams across regions.
