Job summary

Brightsmith is seeking a Senior Grid Connection Manager to lead grid strategy and connectivity for major Nordic data centre developments in Finland and Denmark. You will own the process from feasibility through energisation, coordinating with DSOs/TSOs and engineering teams to ensure timely delivery.

The role requires 10+ years in grid connections, strong HV experience, and collaboration with Finnish or Danish utilities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead grid connection strategy and delivery for large-scale data centre developments in Finland and/or Denmark.
• Own the grid connection process from early-stage feasibility through application, connection agreements, construction and energisation.
• Lead engagement and technical negotiations with local DSOs, TSOs and utility providers.
• Assess grid capacity, connection options, timelines and constraints for potential data centre sites.
• Develop connection strategies for large-load, high-capacity developments and viable solutions.
• Manage grid applications, feasibility studies, connection studies and documentation.
• Oversee HV grid connection and substation requirements with internal and external engineering teams.
• Manage relationships with utilities, consultants, contractors and stakeholders.
• Identify grid-related risks and dependencies impacting site development or construction programmes.

If you're a senior Grid Connection professional with experience securing and delivering power for large-scale data centre or high-load infrastructure projects, this is an opportunity to take ownership of one of the most critical parts of data centre development.

We're partnering with a growing data centre business developing major projects across the Nordic market. With an expanding pipeline across Finland and Denmark, they're looking for an experienced Senior Grid Connection Manager to lead grid strategy and connectivity across new and existing developments.

This is a senior position with responsibility for taking projects from initial power availability and site feasibility through grid connection, energisation and delivery, acting as a key interface between the business, local DSOs/TSOs, engineering teams and wider project stakeholders.

What you'll be doing

• Lead grid connection strategy and delivery for large-scale data centre developments in Finland and/or Denmark.
• Own the grid connection process from early-stage site and power feasibility through application, connection agreement, construction and energisation.
• Lead engagement and technical negotiations with local DSOs, TSOs and utility providers.
• Assess grid capacity, connection options, timelines and constraints for potential data centre sites.
• Develop connection strategies for large-load, high-capacity developments, identifying the most technically and commercially viable solutions.
• Manage grid applications, feasibility studies, connection studies and associated technical documentation.
• Oversee HV grid connection and substation requirements, working closely with internal and external electrical engineering teams.
• Manage relationships with utilities, consultants, contractors and other key technical stakeholders.
• Identify grid-related risks, constraints and dependencies that could impact site selection, development or construction programmes.
• Coordinate grid milestones with Development, Design, Construction and Commercial teams to ensure power is delivered in line with the wider project programme.
• Provide senior technical input into site acquisition and investment decisions from a power and grid perspective.

What we're looking for

• 10+ years' experience across grid connections, power systems, electrical infrastructure or utility-scale power projects.
• Significant experience leading HV grid connections for large-load or complex infrastructure developments.
• Strong experience working directly with DSOs and/or TSOs in Finland or Denmark.
• Detailed understanding of the local grid environment, connection processes, technical requirements and regulatory landscape.
• Proven experience managing grid connection applications, studies, negotiations and connection agreements.
• Strong knowledge of HV systems, substations, transmission/distribution infrastructure and power systems.
• Experience assessing power availability and grid capacity for new development sites.
• Experience within data centres or other major power-intensive infrastructure is highly desirable.
• Strong commercial understanding alongside technical grid expertise, with the ability to assess connection solutions from both perspectives.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional English; Finnish or Danish language skills would be highly advantageous depending on location.
