Wärtsilä in Vaasa, Finland, seeks a Senior Full-Stack Developer to build and enhance our web-based tools for embedded automation. You will join an agile team and translate customer needs into effective workflows, with scope across frontend and backend.

The role requires a strong foundation in web technologies, a degree in computer science, 5+ years of experience with HTML/CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript and React, and fluent English.

  • Specify and implement UX and back-end functionality for our control system maintenance tools.
  • Develop unit and end-to-end tests for our application using Robot Framework.
  • Develop and maintain test/build and release functionality related to the web application in our CI-system.
  • Engage in discussions with colleagues in the development of ways of working within the area of web development.

We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Developer with a main responsibility for developing our web-based tools for our embedded automation system. The preferred location for this position is Vaasa, Finland. We offer the possibility of hybrid remote work.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Senior Full-Stack Developer, you will interpret customer needs and translate them into effective workflows in our web-based tools. You will be part of an agile development team, working closely with colleagues in similar roles. Together, you will provide product management with technical input for the product roadmap. We value curiosity and a willingness to stay up to date with developments in your field, business trends, and the broader end-to-end product, including related development areas. The role can be adjusted based on your skills and interests.

Your work will focus on these responsibilities
  • Together with your development team, specify and implement UX and back-end functionality for our control system maintenance tools
  • Develop unit and end-to-end tests for our application using Robot Framework
  • Develop and maintain test/build and release functionality related to the web application in our CI-system
  • Engage in discussions with colleagues in the development of ways of working within the area of web development
To be able to succeed in the position, we expect you to have:
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in computer science, or another relevant field
  • More than 5 years of hands‑on experience in relevant web technologies such as HTML & CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, React etc. (both client‑side and back‑end)
  • An open personality with good teamwork and communication skills
  • Experience with agile and design‑driven development
  • Ability to adopt to changes in a continuously evolving organisation
  • Fluency in verbal and written English, our everyday work language is English
