Job summary

Eaton's Critical Power Solutions (CPS) is seeking a Senior Firmware & FPGA Engineer to join our team in Vantaa, Finland. You will develop embedded firmware and FPGA-based control for the next-generation MVSST technology, collaborating with global teams to deliver high-performance, grid-ready power electronics solutions.

You will design, implement, and test real-time control algorithms, protection, and state machines in C++, VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog, and contribute to verification plans with

Qualifications

• Experience developing firmware and/or FPGA solutions for power electronics or similar applications.
• Strong embedded firmware development, real-time control systems, and state-machine design.
• Proficiency in C++ and real-time embedded systems; FPGA using VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement embedded firmware and FPGA solutions for MVSST systems with real-time control and state machines.
• Develop high-speed digital control functions for medium-voltage power converters.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams to test and release firmware/FPGA functionality.
• Analyze architectures to design scalable, robust solutions meeting performance and safety goals.
• Design and implement communication, protection, and measurement across processors and FPGA.
• Conduct hands-on testing in high-voltage lab environments with safety adherence.
• Support verification plans, HIL, simulation, and automated test frameworks.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in technical reviews.
