Job summary

GE HealthCare in Helsinki, Vallila site, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to define, develop and maintain embedded software for sensor systems. You will work with agile software teams, hardware, and manufacturing to ensure medical device software meets regulatory requirements and quality standards.

Responsibilities include designing real‑time embedded components, implementing tests on Windows and Linux tooling, applying SDLC/Agile best practices, and driving code quality improvements.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer/electrical/software/biomedical engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of product software development experience using Agile/Lean, including documentation and quality practices.
• Experience using AI-powered tools to accelerate backlog refinement and planning, software design and testing.
• Ability to integrate AI-assisted tools while maintaining software quality, cybersecurity, traceability, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong C++ skills with deep OO design and design patterns.
• Proficiency with Git, code review tools, and CI.
• Experience in Python 3 for test development on target hardware and in simulated environments.
• Hands-on hardware and embedded debugging with IO logic analyzers, scopes and metrology.
• Fluency in English; legally able to work in Finland; willing to work at Vallila office min 3 days/week.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement embedded software components for hardware control and real-time processing.
• Develop and maintain software tests on Windows, with Linux tooling usage as needed.
• Apply SDLC Agile/Lean practices, including software security and documentation.
• Design software using OO principles and translate designs into class/flow diagrams.
• Build robust, maintainable software that is power-efficient and testable.
• Perform hands-on functional/ performance testing on target hardware.
• Collaborate in a global, cross-functional environment with end-to-end ownership.
• Contribute to development method improvements and tool automation.
