Job summary

Finago is seeking a (Senior) Database Administrator in Espoo to own database operations across multiple SaaS services. You will drive performance, scalability, and reliability in production environments and move processes from reactive fixes to proactive optimization.

You will work with MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and cloud platforms (AWS RDS, Azure). This permanent, full‑time role reports to the DevSecOps Manager, with hybrid work from Finago’s Espoo office starting October–November 2026.

Qualifications

• Solid hands‑on experience with databases in production environments.
• Strong experience with MySQL, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL on on‑prem and cloud platforms.
• Experience with performance tuning, troubleshooting, optimization, and maintenance.

As our (Senior) DBA, you’ll play a key role in building internal ownership of database operations across our SaaS services and moving our ways of working from reactive to proactive, scalable, and service-oriented. In practice, this means taking ownership of database performance and stability across multiple services, solving current issues, and building how database operations should be run moving forward. You’ll support some of our most critical SaaS services — including Mepco, APIX, and Procountor — and work closely with service owners, developers, and operations teams across Finago.

This is a newly established role in Finland with clear impact across multiple tier‑one SaaS services. You’ll have the opportunity to shape how database operations are built and run in Global SaaS Operations, influence ways of working, and contribute to services that thousands of customers rely on every day.

Your key tasks and responsibilities include:

• Taking ownership of database operations across multiple SaaS services
• Improving performance, scalability, and stability in production environments
• Moving database work from reactive issue handling to proactive monitoring and optimization
• Reducing dependency on external database services and strengthening internal capabilities
• Collaborating with stakeholders across teams to define best practices and ways of working
• Identifying opportunities for cost optimization related to database operations and tooling

This is a permanent, full‑time position, reporting to Sami Korhonen, DevSecOps Manager. The role is based at Finago’s Espoo office, and we work flexibly in a hybrid model.The planned start for this role is during October‑Novemeber 2026.

We're looking for a DBA professional who wants to take ownership, drive improvements, and help build a reliable database environment that scales with the business. To succeed in this role, you:

• Have solid hands‑on experience working with databases in production environments.
• Have strong experience with MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL, both on dedicated on‑premises infrastructure and cloud‑based platforms such as AWS RDS and Azure managed database services.
• Have experience with database performance tuning, troubleshooting, optimization, and maintenance.
• Take a proactive approach to your work, focusing on preventing issues before they impact users or services.
• Work well in a matrix organization and enjoy collaborating across multiple services, as well as with R&D, Operations, and other stakeholders.
• Communicate fluently in English.

You may come from a background in database administration, backend development with significant database ownership, or infrastructure and operations roles with strong database responsibilities.

Experience working in SaaS environments, complex or high‑volume systems, or transitioning services from external providers to in‑house operations is considered an advantage.

Please note that passing the standard security clearance conducted by the Finnish Security and Intelligence Service (Supo) is a requirement for employment in this position.
