Distance Technologies LLC seeks a Senior Computer Vision Engineer to advance the face tracker at the core of our Lightfield HUD in Helsinki. You will collaborate with peers to enhance tracking accuracy, pose prediction, and depth estimation, delivering robust performance on wearables and vehicle-integrated displays.

The role emphasizes real-time software engineering, scientific rigor, and clear communication with partners and customers. Relocation support is available.

Qualifications

• Production-quality C++
• Real-time computer vision
• Face, hand, or body landmark models, or developing ML models for other 2D feature tracking
• State estimation and filtering (e.g. EKF)
• Multi-view geometry
• Geometry-constrained optimization problems

Responsibilities

• Face tracking: detecting where the user’s eyes are with millimeter level accuracy.
• Pose prediction: rendering to where the eyes will be, not where the camera last saw them.
• Depth estimation from stereo.
• Detection robustness in challenging conditions (sunlight, occlusion).
• Content stability: keep image locked in place as the head moves.
• Noise and jitter filtering with real motion preserved.
• Real-time performance: hundreds of updates per second.
