Job summary

Scandit Tampere is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build and operate the backend powering ShelfView’s ML‑driven store monitoring. You’ll help scale real-time data pipelines, ensure security and observability, and own APIs for a growing enterprise customer base.

You will collaborate with AI/ML researchers, extend multi‑tenant capabilities, and drive infrastructure decisions for large deployments, while mentoring peers and shaping technical direction.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend experience shipping cloud software.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Temporal/Celery/Airflow/Dagster) in production.
• Hands-on with identity/SAML/OIDC, RBAC, and multi-tenant architectures.
• Strong observability skills: distributed tracing, metrics, logging, and debugging production issues.
• Fluent in Python; comfortable with other languages.
• Experience with databases (relational/document) and cloud data pipelines; Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Load and stress-test the platform against large deployments.
• Push infrastructure and GPU capacity strategies for bigger deployments.
• Collaborate with AI/ML researchers to productionize innovations.
• Extend and harden multi-tenancy for new customers and regions.
• Deepen observability for faster issue detection in production.
• Design and evolve service APIs as the platform scales.
• Mentor engineers and influence technical direction as the team grows.
