Overview
Virta is recruiting two Senior Software Engineers for its Pricing & Finance Services team to build and evolve the core services that set tariffs, calculate settlements, and generate invoices for our EV charging platform.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement pricing, tariff, settlement, and invoicing logic for legacy and new services.
- Own the technical direction for the team’s backend services, including data modelling, service boundaries, and architecture patterns that ensure correctness and testability.
- Write and maintain APIs that expose financial functionality to external and internal stakeholders.
- Enforce accuracy, auditability, and idempotency as first‑class requirements in transactional systems.
- Define and uphold testing strategy, code review practices, and release discipline.
- Lead incident response and drive post‑mortem analyses when production issues occur.
- Mentor junior engineers through design reviews, pairing, and direct feedback.
- Collaborate with product, operations, and other engineering teams to align on contracts and service boundary decisions.
Qualifications
- Deep, demonstrated experience building production backend services.
- Strong command of TypeScript and NestJS; comfort with PHP is required.
- Expertise in data modelling, SQL, and designing schemas that meet financial‑grade correctness.
- Track record of creating clean service boundaries and testable code.
- Ability to operate independently and own significant technical decisions.
- Experience mentoring engineers and setting quality standards.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Comfort with AI coding tools and an understanding of when they are appropriate.
- Residency and work rights in Finland; willingness to work onsite regularly in a hybrid model.
Nice to Have
- Experience in EV charging, energy, mobility, or IoT sectors.
- Background in billing, payments, settlements, accounting systems, or other domains where financial correctness is critical.
- Experience evolving services from a legacy monolith to a domain‑oriented architecture.
- Familiarity with event‑driven design and asynchronous processing trade‑offs in transactional systems.
Location & Employment
The position is based in Finland. Employees are expected to work onsite on a regular basis, with a hybrid working arrangement.
