Job summary

Unikie seeks a Senior Android Automotive Audio Engineer to develop and optimize the IVI audio subsystem on Android Automotive OS. You will integrate audio software across Android framework, Audio HAL, and Linux layers while advancing AAOS-specific features like routing, multi-zone audio, and focus control.

The role requires hands-on experience with Android Audio Framework, Audio HAL, C/C++, Java/Kotlin, and debugging tools.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of direct, hands-on experience with audio software.
• Strong experience with Android Audio Framework and Audio HAL development/integration.
• Proven experience with AAOS-specific audio components: Car Audio Manager, car_audio_configuration.xml, multi-zone audio, audio focus and ducking.
• Proficient in C/C++ and Java/Kotlin.
• Solid understanding of ALSA and audio routing/mixer controls.
• Experience building and debugging within the AOSP source tree and build system (Soong/Make).
• Hands-on debugging skills using adb, logcat, systrace/Perfetto.
• Experience with Bluetooth audio profiles (A2DP/HFP) integration on Android.
• Strong understanding of Linux kernel audio drivers (ASoC) and their interaction with user-space audio HAL.
• Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, or related field (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize the audio subsystem for an IVI platform on AAOS.
• Integrate audio software across Android framework, Audio HAL, and lower-level Linux audio layers.
• Implement AAOS-specific audio features: routing, multi-zone audio, focus and ducking.
• Investigate and debug audio issues across audio stack layers.
• Support integration and troubleshooting of audio functionality in the IVI platform.
