Job summary

VTT is seeking a Research Scientist in Oulu to advance integration and packaging technologies for photonics, quantum and microelectronic devices. You will collaborate with design and manufacturing experts, customers and partners to drive research, prototyping and pilot manufacturing activities.

The role includes potential management of small R&D projects and a chance to publish findings in journals and conferences, while supporting new research initiatives. Fluency in English is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with photonic devices and integration technologies.
• Knowledge of device packaging, assembly processes, or quantum technologies is valued.
• Master’s degree, preferably doctorate, in photonics, electronics, quantum tech, physics or related field.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to R&D on photonics and quantum device integration with design and manufacturing experts.
• Design integration and packaging concepts and execute assembly processes and characterization.
• Plan and execute assembly, packaging and testing experiments; analyze results and address challenges.
• Communicate research plans and results in meetings, reports and presentations.
• Publish scientific results in journals and conferences.
• Support preparation of new research and customer projects.
• Manage small R&D projects depending on interests.
