Job summary

VTT is seeking a Research Scientist to advance integration and packaging technologies for photonics, quantum and microelectronic devices in Oulu. You will collaborate with experts, contribute to research, prototyping and pilot manufacturing activities, and help communicate results to partners and customers.

You may also manage small R&D projects and publish results in journals and conferences. A master’s degree (preferably PhD) and fluency in English are required, with experience in photonics,

Qualifications

• Master’s degree (preferably a doctorate) in photonics, electronics, quantum technology or related field.
• Experience or strong interest in photonic devices and integration technologies.
• Knowledge of microelectronics, semiconductors, optoelectronics, electronics manufacturing, microsystems or thermal management.
• Project management experience is an asset.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to R&D on photonics and quantum device integration technologies with design and manufacturing experts.
• Design integration and packaging concepts and develop assembly processes and related characterization tasks.
• Plan and execute assembly, packaging and testing experiments, analyse results and solve technical challenges.
• Communicate research plans and results in meetings, reports and presentations.
• Publish scientific results in journals and conference proceedings.
• Support the preparation of new research and customer projects.
• Manage small R&D projects, depending on your interests.
