Job summary

Tether is seeking a hands-on systems engineer to develop and maintain native modules for a cross-platform runtime. You will write C addons bridging platform APIs into JavaScript, ensure builds run on macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, and contribute to runtime core.

You will work independently, ship end-to-end modules, and support diverse devices and operating systems. The role requires strong C and JavaScript expertise, with experience in Node.js internals, N-API, and cross-compilation.

Qualifications

• Strong C programming skills across platforms.
• Fluent JavaScript and Node.js internals experience.
• Experience building native addons for Node.js or similar runtimes.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and ship bare-* native modules end to end with tests.
• Set up cross-platform builds for macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS; manage toolchains.
• Contribute to Bare runtime core and evaluate alternative JS engines.
• Debug native addon issues across OS targets and maintain tests.
• Collaborate with product teams and communicate progress clearly.
