Mirasys seeks an experienced R&D Manager to lead a ~15-person team in Espoo, Finland, guiding people, processes and delivery. You’ll drive AI-enabled development, improve validation pipelines, and work with external partners to align with architecture and schedules.

You’ll foster an ownership culture, balance workloads, and champion rapid, high-quality releases in a hybrid work setting. Fluency in English is expected.

R&D Manager | Mirasys | Espoo, Finland (Hybrid) | Full-time

Mirasys video management software secures critical infrastructure, cities, banks, hospitals and other demanding environments around the world. Behind it is a team of developers, QA engineers and documentation specialists who take quality seriously. Now we’re looking for an experienced R&D Manager to lead, coach and grow our ~15-person team, and to help them do the best work of their careers.

This is a people and process leadership role. You don’t need to know our product or industry. We’ll help you learn that. What matters most is how you lead. You bring a proven playbook for building autonomous, high-performing teams, and the curiosity to keep improving how we build software and ship it to our customers.

What you’ll do

1.People leadership (~40%)

• Be a supportive, growth-oriented manager for developers, QA, and documentation specialists, through regular 1:1s, mentoring, career development, and performance reviews
• Build a collaborative, psychologically safe culture rooted in ownership, accountability, and quality
• Balance team capacity against product and business priorities, and keep workloads sustainable

2.Process and technical evolution (~30%)

• Lead AI adoption by bringing AI-assisted coding, testing, and documentation tools into everyday workflows
• Drive test automation, infrastructure-as-code, and continuous improvement of our validation pipelines
• Streamline our release model toward more frequent, reliable, low-friction delivery
• Set and refine coding standards, definition of done, and QA practices

3.Partner and subcontractor management (~20%)

• Act as the main technical and managerial contact for our external development and QA partners
• Hold partners accountable to our architecture standards, quality metrics, and schedules
• Bring internal and external contributors together into one cohesive delivery team

4.Stakeholder alignment (~10%)

• Work with product management, architecture, and leadership to turn business goals into engineering plans
• Give clear visibility into velocity, risks, and roadmap progress

What you bring

• A track record of leading and coaching engineering teams (developers and QA) with empathy, clear communication, and mature judgment
• Hands‑on experience modernizing delivery, especially CI/CD automation, test automation, and progressive release models
• Practical experience with, or real enthusiasm for, AI tools in development and QA
• Proven experience managing subcontractors or outsourcing partners against quality and schedule commitments
• Deep familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and flow optimization

• A background in software engineering or computer science (this isn’t a hands‑on coding role)

Practicalities

• Finland residency (no relocation package)
• You already have the right to work in Finland or the EU
• Fluency in English, Finnish is an advantage
