Job summary

VTT is seeking a Master’s Thesis Worker to join the ProperTune AI team in Espoo. You will explore how logical qubits can enable quantum-computing applications for materials science and implement quantum algorithms on LISQ architectures. The project aims to validate approaches on VTT’s current and future quantum platforms.

You will work with AI-driven materials design, data analytics, and HPC resources to advance quantum computing research and its materials applications.

Qualifications

• Master's student in a physics/quantum tech/math/computer science field.
• Strong mathematical foundation including linear algebra and numerical methods.
• Genuine interest in quantum computing and programming experience.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced math, quantum mechanics, computational physics, and ML to develop quantum algorithms and error-correction strategies.
• Investigate the transition from NISQ to LISQ computing.
• Evaluate noise models and error suppression on algorithm performance.
• Perform numerical simulations and data analysis on HPC resources.
• Collaborate with quantum researchers and discuss future architectures.
• Contribute to validating quantum algorithms on VTT hardware.
