Job summary

Fourblue is seeking an experienced Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial management of mechanical packages on major European projects. The role focuses on budgets, cost plans, cash flow, and timely reporting, working with delivery teams across Europe.

Ideal candidates will have a degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics, at least five years post-qualification experience in MEP/mechanical construction, and a strong grasp of contracts and risk.

Qualifications

  • Degree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or related discipline.
  • At least five years’ post-qualification experience.
  • MEP or mechanical construction environment experience.
  • Experience managing subcontractor accounts, variations and final accounts.
  • Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial risk.
  • Excellent numerical, reporting and IT skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous data centre experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience working in Europe is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial performance of mechanical projects and packages.
  • Prepare project budgets, cost plans and commercial reports.
  • Compile monthly payment applications, including remeasurement, variations, dayworks and claims.
  • Manage subcontractor accounts from initial appointment through to final account.
  • Review contracts and ensure project teams comply with contractual obligations.
  • Identify commercial risks and report them to senior management.
  • Manage and forecast project turnover, cash flow and cost performance.
  • Support procurement activities and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Produce accurate project forecasts and monthly commercial reports.

The Opportunity

We are recruiting an experienced Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to join a leading engineering contractor delivering major MEP projects across Europe

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to work on complex engineering projects while developing their career within an established international business.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the commercial management of mechanical packages, working closely with project delivery, procurement and subcontractor teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the commercial performance of mechanical projects and packages.
  • Prepare project budgets, cost plans and commercial reports.
  • Compile monthly payment applications, including remeasurement, variations, dayworks and claims.
  • Manage subcontractor accounts from initial appointment through to final account.
  • Review contracts and ensure project teams comply with contractual obligations.
  • Identify commercial risks and report them promptly to senior management.
  • Manage and forecast project turnover, cash flow and cost performance.
  • Support procurement activities and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Review correspondence from clients, design teams and subcontractors to identify commercially or contractually critical matters.
  • Produce accurate project forecasts and monthly commercial reports.
  • Support the development of European subcontractor and supplier networks.
  • Work closely with construction, engineering and procurement teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Experience Required
  • A degree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline.
  • At least five years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Previous experience working within an MEP or mechanical construction environment.
  • Strong experience managing subcontractor accounts, variations and final accounts.
  • Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial risk.
  • Excellent numerical, reporting and IT skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous data centre experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Experience working in Europe is essential
