Job summary

Supercell in Helsinki is seeking a Quality Engineering Lead to own the QA strategy across Player Platform, including Supercell Store, Supercell ID, and web properties. Job description

We are looking for a Quality Engineering Lead to join the Player Platform team, owning quality strategy and execution across Supercell Store, Supercell ID, and Supercell’s web presence.

In this role, you will shape and lead the quality function for a set of systems that touch every player and every game team, from real-money commerce to account identity to our public-facing web properties. You'll also play a leading role in a bigger ambition: working with game teams to push end-to-end automated testing across our games and their connected systems further than ever.

Player Platform is not a game team, and testing it looks somewhat different than testing a game. Supercell Store handles direct player payments on the web. Supercell ID is the identity layer connecting hundreds of millions of players across every Supercell title. The Supercell ecosystem also spans supercell.com and adjacent web services, with their own compliance and accessibility obligations. Bugs here don't just annoy a player, they can break a purchase, lock someone out of their account, or create a compliance problem. We need someone who treats quality as a core system property, not a phase at the end of a sprint, and who's excited by a genuinely unsolved problem: full end-to-end automated coverage across our games and platform systems together.

What You'll Be Doing

• Own the QA strategy across the Player Platform products and services and decide where manual testing, automation, and monitoring each pay off
• Lead the shift from a manual-first testing practice to one built around automation and AI-assisted testing, working hands-on with the teams to build that capability rather than delegating the work
• Get involved at the earlier stages of design and implementation, not just the test stage, pushing for testability and clear failure modes before a feature ships to production
• Build and scale test automation in partnership with engineering, embedding quality gates into CI/CD rather than bolting them on after the fact
• Extend quality practices into production, using monitoring and real-signal validation to catch what pre-release testing can't
• Partner with game team engineering and QA to extend automation beyond Player Platform, pushing end-to-end automated testing across games and their connected systems further than we've taken it before, with AI-assisted testing opening new ground
• Work closely with the Automation team in Central QA to align efforts and share solutions across the organization
• Define release readiness criteria and how go/no-go calls are made on player-facing launches
• Lead and grow our quality team, including hiring, mentoring, and raising the technical bar of the existing team
• Run root cause analysis on production incidents and regressions, and turn findings into process or automation fixes
• Coordinate testing across a wide stakeholder base, as multiple teams, including Games, Social, and Support, depend on these systems working

What You Have

• Hands-on experience with test automation and AI-assisted testing tools, strong enough to build and teach it, not just advocate for it
• Working proficiency in a modern programming language, familiarity with cloud infrastructure, and working knowledge of DevOps practices
• Strong foundation in core testing principles and methodology: test design, risk-based prioritization, defect lifecycle management
• Proven ability to build a deep technical understanding of a system's internals, and the judgment to identify highest-risk areas and focus effort there
• Prior experience transforming a manual-first QA practice toward automation, including the mindset shift, not just new tooling
• Experience leading QA and/or test engineering for a production system at meaningful scale, ideally where you owned the strategy, not just executed test cases
• Ability to drive testing practice and influence engineering decisions in teams outside your direct reporting line, using credibility and technical judgment rather than authority
• Experience testing across both mobile (Android/iOS) and web surfaces
• People leadership or mentoring experience, and the judgment to know when to test more versus when to ship
• Comfort operating with ambiguity and multiple stakeholders pulling in different directions
• Ability to push back on scope or timelines when quality risk warrants it, and to make that case to non-QA stakeholders

Would Be Nice if You Also Have

• Experience with payment compliance, data protection, or age-related regulation as they apply to testing and release sign-off
• Exposure to end-to-end or integration testing across independently-owned systems (not just within a single team's codebase)
• Background testing on PC, in addition to mobile and web
