Job summary

VTT, a leading European research organization, seeks a Process Platforms Manager for the Micronova FAB in Espoo. You will shape common pilot-line process platforms and act as technical owner for platform architecture, qualification, and governance, collaborating with research teams to transfer innovations to scalable pilot-lines.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in semiconductor process integration, advanced microfabrication, or pilot-line development.
  • Experience in process architecture, technology platform development and design enablement within semiconductor R&D or foundry environments.
  • Good understanding of semiconductor process flows, process capability, qualification methodologies, quality management, and metrology.
  • Experience supporting technology teams through structured platform-development activities.
  • Familiarity with data-driven process development and interaction with MES, manufacturing databases, or engineering data systems.
  • MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Microelectronics or other equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on experience building and qualifying Process Design Kits (PDKs) and related design-enablement infrastructure is a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Shape and evolve Micronova's pilot-line process platforms to meet evolving needs in microelectronics, photonics, and quantum tech.
  • Own the platform architecture, modules, qualification approaches, and governance with research teams.
  • Coordinate platform development and technology transfer from research to scalable pilot-line capabilities.
  • Develop and harmonize platform practices, qualification frameworks, and design-enablement across technology domains.
  • Serve as a technical bridge among process engineers, designers, metrology, and data management.
  • Ensure platform maturity, process qualification, and PDK readiness.
  • Lead a small team of metrology and process quality specialists and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support scalable pilot-line operations and customer-oriented service delivery.

Micronova is a leading research and pilot-line environment for microelectronics,photonicsand quantum technologies. The FABorganizationprovides the common process platforms, infrastructure and operational capabilities that enable technology development from early research to pilot-line readiness. These process platforms span silicon photonics, MEMS, nanoelectronics, advanced 3D integration and quantum technologies, including Thick SOI and SiNphotonic integrated circuits (PICs), MEMS-based Fabry-Perot and BAW devices, non-volatilememoriesand TSV-based 3D integration. Working closely with researchers, process engineers and technology teams, the FABorganizationsupports the development, integrationandindustrializationof advanced technologies through shared process platforms, metrology capabilities and pilot-line operations.

As a Process Platforms Manager, you will:

Shape and advance Micronova's shared pilot-line process platforms to meet the evolving needs of microelectronics, photonics, and quantum technology development.

Thisposition combines technical leadershipandplatform architectureownership.As the technical owner ofMicronova'scommon pilot-line process platform architecture, including process modules, qualification approaches, design-enablement practices and platform,governance, you will work closely with research teams to support process platform developmentand the transition of research technologies into scalable pilot-line capabilities.

The role complements the deepexpertisewithinindividualtechnology teams by developing common process-platform practices, qualificationapproachesand design-enablement capabilities acrossMicronova. It focuses on platform-level architecture,qualificationand design enablement, while ownership of individual process modules, baselinerecipes,and day-to-day process developmentremainswithin the technology and process engineering teams.

You will act as a key technical bridge between process engineers, designers, metrology specialists, pilot-line development teams and the Data Management Lead, ensuring that platform capabilities, qualification practices,documentationand data structures evolve coherently across technology domains. The role also acts as a technical gatekeeper for platform maturity, processqualification,and PDK readiness.

The position is part of the FABorganization, reports to the FAB Director and leads a small team of metrology and process quality specialists while driving the development ofMicronova'scommon pilot-line process platforms.

Your key areas ofimpact:

  • Define and evolve common pilot-line platform architectures, qualificationapproachesand capability roadmaps across technology domains.
  • Drive the development of design-enablement capabilities and qualification frameworks supporting scalable technology transfer and pilot-line deployment.
  • Own the development and harmonization ofMicronovapilot-line operational and business processes.
  • Define common operating models, governancestructuresand process frameworks across technology domains.
  • Drive platform readiness, capability lifecyclemanagementand continuous improvement.
  • Establish common practices for quality, traceability, datamanagementand performance monitoring.
  • Ensure knowledge, best practices and lessons learned are systematically captured and shared.
  • Support scalable pilot-line operations, technologytransferand customer-oriented service delivery.

Whowearelookingfor:

  • Strong background in semiconductor process integration, advancedmicrofabrication,or pilot-line development
  • Demonstrated experience in process architecture, technology platform development and design enablement within semiconductor R&D or foundry environments
  • Good understanding of semiconductor process flows, process capability, qualification methodologies, qualitymanagement,and metrology
  • Experience supporting technology teams through structured platform-development activities
  • Familiarity with data-driven process development and interaction with MES, manufacturing databases,or engineering data systems
