Job summary

Vaasan kaupunki invites applications for a substitute primary school teacher at Länsimetsän koulu in Vaasa. The position runs from 1 September 2026 to 5 June 2027, with a focus on Finnish general education and Swedish immersion for grades 1–6.

The substitute will teach Grade 2 and provide 2 hours per week of music for Grade 3, planning and delivering curriculum in accordance with the Finnish education system.

Qualifications

• Eligibility under Decree 986/1998.
• Strong written and verbal Finnish skills.
• Ability to teach Grade 2 and provide 2 hours of music for Grade 3.
• Police background check required.
• Trial period of 4.5 months.

Responsibilities

• Teach Grade 2 general education according to the curriculum.
• Provide 2 hours per week of music for Grade 3.
• Plan and implement instruction and assess students.
• Cooperate with families and guardians; inform about class matters.
• Participate in teacher meetings, working groups and team collaboration.
