Job summary

The University of Eastern Finland invites applications for a fixed-term Postdoctoral Researcher position in Operator Theory and Complex Analysis at the Joensuu campus. The appointment is for two years starting on 1 November 2026, with a trial period applicable to new staff.

The successful candidate will conduct research in the Spectral and Asymptotic Analysis of Structured Matrices and Operators project, publish papers, present at conferences, and contribute to teaching and supervision of PhD

Qualifications

• A doctoral degree in mathematics or a related field.
• Good skills in spoken and written English.
• Strong background in operator theory, complex analysis, and quantum physics demonstrated by publications.
• Advantage: background in Toeplitz operators and numerical ranges.

Responsibilities

• Conduct high-quality research in operator theory and complex analysis, including manuscript preparation and submission.
• Produce high-quality scientific publications and report research outcomes.
• Present research at conferences and other academic events.
• Contribute to teaching activities and supervise PhD and Master’s students (up to 5% of the position).
