Job summary

The University of Oulu invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the freshwater plant research team for a two-year fixed-term project (2025-2028) under the Kvantum Institute. The role includes independent research, publishing in international journals, and teaching up to 10% of annual work hours.

Qualifications

• PhD in Geography, Ecology, Environmental Sciences or related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in community ecology or species distribution modelling using R.
• Knowledge of aquatic ecosystems and/or aquatic plant ecology is a benefit.
• GIS (ArcGIS or QGIS) required; advanced level preferred.
• Experience managing and harmonizing heterogeneous ecological, environmental, climatic datasets.

Responsibilities

• Carry out postdoctoral research addressing effects of climate and land use on freshwater biodiversity.
• Publish research results in reputable international journals.
• Contribute to developing new proposals for further research.
• Teach undergraduate courses up to 10% of annual hours and co-supervise masters/doctoral students.
• Present research in Kvantum Institute seminars and at international conferences.
