Job summary

The University of Oulu invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Research Group on Computational Uncertainty Quantification within the Faculty of Science. The role centers on Bayesian inverse problems, uncertainty quantification, and the design of new priors for complex problems.

Qualifications

• PhD in mathematics or closely related field with strong analysis background.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Ability to conduct independent scientific research and contribute to teaching.

Responsibilities

• Conduct independent and collaborative research in applied mathematics focusing on Bayesian inverse problems.
• Develop and analyse new Bayesian priors for inverse problems and study their properties.
• Develop computational methods for exploring high-dimensional posterior distributions.
• Contribute to research software development in Python.
• Collaborate with SPARSe Academy and FAME Flagship and international partners; supervise students.
