Job summary

Aalto University invites applications for a doctoral researcher in quantum computing and algorithms for Life Science applications at the Micro and Quantum Systems (MQS) group. The work bridges quantum computing, biology, genomics, and materials science to develop hybrid quantum–classical methods for near-term deployment.

The role targets world-class research, PhD coursework, and teaching, with a two-year contract and a starting salary of ~3100 €/month in a hybrid Espoo-based setup.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (theoretical physics, mathematics, or computer science).
  • Strong interest in quantum computing.
  • Proficiency in English; Finnish not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in quantum algorithms and quantum information leading to a PhD.
  • Publish results in high-impact journals and contribute to teaching and coursework.
