Job summary

Aalto University invites applications for a doctoral researcher position in quantum computing and algorithms for Life Science applications. You will join the Micro and Quantum Systems (MQS) research group within the Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering and work on quantum algorithms, quantum information, and interdisciplinary applications spanning bioinformatics, genomics, and materials science.

You will develop hybrid quantum‑classical approaches, publish in high‑impact journals,

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with excellent academic record in theoretical physics, mathematics, computer science or related field.
  • Strong interest in quantum computing.
  • Working proficiency in English (Finnish not required).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in quantum algorithms and quantum information leading to PhD completion.
  • Take an active role in advancing the MQS group’s research projects.
  • Publish results in high‑impact journals.
  • Attend doctoral coursework and participate in group teaching activities.
  • Collaborate with MQS group members to advance research projects.
