University of Eastern Finland in Joensuu invites applications for a Doctoral Researcher position (4 years) in the DP-FOBI program. The role focuses on multisource data for canopy and habitat mapping in boreal forests, collaborating with DP-FOBI partners and SYKE, and contributing to an interdisciplinary research environment.

The successful candidate will enroll in the UEF Doctoral Programme, participate in trainings, and may engage in secondments and international visits.

Qualificações

• Master’s degree in a relevant field; strong interest in forests, biodiversity, and remote sensing.
• Familiarity with multiscale and multisource Earth observation data and products (field, UAV, airborne, spaceborne).
• Solid programming skills in R or Python and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct dissertation research and complete required doctoral studies.
• Collaborate with DP-FOBI and Digital Geosciences Research Group, and with partner schools and SYKE.
• Prepare an individual study plan and participate in DP-FOBI training including workshops and summer schools.
• Engage in secondments, research visits, and dissemination activities.
