Job summary

The Faculty of Health Sciences, A.I. Virtanen Institute at the University of Eastern Finland invites applications for a Project or Doctoral Researcher position in Molecular Physiology on the Kuopio campus.

Qualifications

• MSc degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized higher education institution.
• Excellent spoken, read and written English.
• Ability to conduct independent research and hands-on laboratory work.

Responsibilities

• Generate loss-of-function hiPSC-derived models using CRISPR and bioengineering.
• Create knock-in hiPSC lines and hiPSC-derived cardiomyocytes for proximity proteomics and ChIP-seq.
• Characterize cardiomyocytes from modified lines using gene expression analyses and imaging.
• Develop in vitro hiPSC-CM models and test candidate inhibitors.
• Perform protein biochemistry and molecular biology experiments to uncover mechanisms.
• Collaborate closely with physiologists to characterize cell phenotypes.
• Work onsite in an international environment during normal hours and occasionally weekends.
• Collect and analyse data, prepare manuscripts, and present findings at lab meetings and conferences.
