Job summary

Luke seeks a PhD researcher to join the ClimatePine project, collaborating with Metsähallitus Forestry Ltd and the University of Helsinki. The role involves completing a PhD thesis per the project plan, studying genetic variation in Scots pine growth and stress resilience, and deploying forest reproductive materials in a changing climate.

Responsibilities include field measurements, sampling, laboratory experiments, and genomic data analyses.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a suitable field (agriculture/forestry/biology/statistics).
  • Knowledge of quantitative genetics, tree breeding and statistical methodologies required.
  • Understanding of genomic tools in breeding and evolutionary biology beneficial.
  • Good cooperation and communication skills; fluent English; Finnish is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in field measurements and sampling; field and laboratory work as needed.
  • Contribute to analysis of genomic data and breeding strategies for climate adaptation.
  • Align PhD thesis with ClimatePine project plan and collaborate with Luke, Metsähallitus and University of Helsinki.
