Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical QA/QC Engineer to support the delivery of mechanical and plumbing systems on 2x large-scale data centre projects.
You will be responsible for ensuring mechanical works are delivered in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and quality requirements. Working closely with construction, commissioning, subcontractor, and client teams, you will manage inspections, documentation, testing, and handover activities throughout the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain QA/QC processes and inspection plans for mechanical and plumbing works
- Review drawings, specifications, method statements, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and quality surveillance of mechanical installations
- Oversee quality of chilled water, cooling systems, CRAH/CRAC units, pipework, pumps, valves, drainage, and associated systems
- Verify materials, workmanship, installation standards, labelling, and documentation
- Maintain full traceability of inspections, materials, testing, and quality records
- Identify defects and manage NCRs, snagging, and corrective actions through to close-out
- Support testing, commissioning, system validation, and progressive handover
- Coordinate with construction and commissioning teams to ensure systems are ready for testing and handover
- Provide regular quality updates and reporting to project leadership
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline
- 3+ years' QA/QC experience within mechanical construction or MEP projects
- Experience working on data centre, industrial, or large-scale construction projects
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, installation standards, and quality requirements
- Experience with inspections, ITPs, NCRs, snagging, and quality documentation
- Good understanding of testing, commissioning, and handover processes
- Familiarity with digital QA/QC and document management platforms
- Fluent English, written and spoken
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience on data centre or mission-critical projects
- Experience working on fast-track and phased construction projects
- Knowledge of relevant mechanical standards and codes
- ISO 9001 Internal Auditor, CQI/IRCA, CSCS, or Safe Pass certification is advantageous
