Job summary

Varex Imaging Corporation in Espoo, Finland, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical architecture of next‑generation X‑ray detectors. You will work across concept to production, collaborating with electronics, systems, manufacturing, and product teams in a hybrid on‑site role.

The role emphasizes balancing performance, cost, schedule, and manufacturability, with hands‑on CAD work in SolidWorks, DFM considerations, and ongoing collaboration with procurement and R&D.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or a comparable 3D CAD platform.
• Experience designing parts for a variety of manufacturing processes including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication and additive manufacturing.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to coordinate technical requirements across multidisciplinary teams in both onsite and remote environments.
• Professional working proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical architecture and detailed design of our X-ray detectors.
• Create and maintain CAD models, detailed drawings and BOMs in SolidWorks; manage mechanical documentation throughout release and ECO processes.
• Plan and execute V&V for mechanical subsystems.
• Design manufacturing jigs & fixtures for in-house production teams.
• Collaborate closely with electronics, firmware, systems, manufacturing, product, and program management teams.
• Work closely with procurement team to identify, assess, and qualify suppliers.
• Support prototyping, pilot builds and testing; iterate designs based on feedback from testing, manufacturing and customers.
