Job summary

Sartorius in Helsinki is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to shape the design and development of single-use products and related instruments. You will drive lifecycle management, work on new product development, and ensure manufacturability through design and documentation.

The role collaborates with product management, production, quality, and suppliers in a hybrid setup. English communication is essential, Finnish language knowledge is a plus, and exposure to medical devices is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in injection-molded plastic components and production transfer.
  • Several years of experience with at least one 3D design software.
  • Experience in technical documentation and product data management.
  • Ability to see the bigger picture and drive design tasks forward.
  • Willingness to learn and work in a hybrid setup.
  • Experience in medical devices or regulated environments is a plus.

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our product development team. In this role, you will be responsible for the mechanical design and development of single-use products and the instruments used with them. You will work on new product development with some involvement in the maintenance, improvement, and lifecycle management of existing products. Your Responsibilities
  • Design and develop the mechanics of single-use products and related instruments.

  • Consider manufacturability, assembly, cost, quality, and usability when developing design solutions.
  • Maintain existing products, create design changes, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Participate in design reviews and risk management, as well as product testing and problem-solving when required.
  • Take responsibility for the mechanical design of projects and, over time, have the opportunity to act as project’s technical owner.
What will convince us
  • A relevant technical degree, such as a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in designing injection-molded plastic components and transferring designs into production.
  • Several years of experience with at least one 3D design software.
  • Experience in technical documentation, drawing creation, and product data management.
  • The ability to understand the bigger picture and move design tasks forward in a systematic manner.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Good communication skills in English; knowledge of Finnish is considered an advantage.
  • A willingness to learn and a genuine interest in developing your expertise.
  • Readiness to work according to the agreed hybrid working model and, when needed, from the office in collaboration with other team members.
  • Experience in product development within medical devices, biotechnology, or another regulated environment is considered an advantage.
