Job summary

Jobtailor in Espoo, Finland seeks a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to own design, development, and optimization of mechanical components for spatial ALD platforms. You will design parts, assemblies, enclosures, and vacuum structures in 3D CAD, create drawings, prototype, test, and analyze components with stress, thermal, and tolerance methods.

Qualifications

• Design mechanical components for industrial equipment with CAD tools.
• Experience with vacuum chambers, sealing, pumping, materials for vacuum.
• Hands-on manufacturing experience including machining and welding.
• Strong understanding of tolerances, materials, ISO and CE safety standards.
• Customer-facing technical work and occasional travel to sites.
• Fluent English in professional communication.

Job description

• Own the design, development, and optimization of mechanical components and systems for spatial ALD platforms
• Design mechanical parts, assemblies, enclosures, and vacuum structures in 3D CAD
• Create drawings and documentation to support designs
• Prototype, test, and analyze components through stress, thermal, and tolerance analysis
• Support tool builds through assembly support, fit checks, measurements, and design verification
• Translate customer requirements into project-specific designs
• Support field cases, installations, and upgrades
• Lead root cause analysis for mechanical issues and drive corrective actions and product improvements
• Optimize designs for manufacturability and serviceability with production and supply chain teams
• Maintain product structures in PLM systems including Roima Aton and SAP
• Ensure mechanical integration with automation, software, and electrical systems
• Ensure compliance with ISO, CE, and related safety standards
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software/automation, process development, production, supply chain, and service teams
• Work directly with customers on technical requirements, installations, upgrades, and technical reviews

Requirements

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
• 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in mechanical design of industrial or capital equipment
• Practical experience with vacuum technology, including vacuum chambers, sealing, pumping, and materials for vacuum environments
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Vault, and AutoCAD
• Practical hands‑on experience in manufacturing mechanical components is a strong advantage, including machining, sheet‑metal fabrication, and welding
• Experience with FEA and thermal analysis; CFD experience is an advantage
• Solid understanding of materials, tolerances, common manufacturing methods, and mechanical safety standards including ISO and CE
• Experience in customer‑facing technical work
• Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites
• Fluent English
• Experience with gas handling, thin film, or semiconductor process equipment is an advantage
